DIY – Do it Yourself!

I love a bit of DIY and have lately had the time to do so many things.  Whether it is for a party, or a present or just something in my home.  I also love making things myself if it means I only spend a fraction of the cost and challenges to me to do something creative.  I also like to up-cycle things rather than … Continue reading DIY – Do it Yourself!

LOOSE PARTS ✨ So I haven’t published anything on the website for over three years 🙀 and I finally have just written one for the parents. A few weeks ago I did polls in my stories to see what you guys wanted to see. This blog post is ‘Using Nature in Play, our favourite loose parts to use at home.’ I hope this explains to parents and new early childhood teachers a bit about loose parts (or intelligent materials I heard them called the other day, 👏🏼 love that) and how you can use them in your home to benefit your child’s learning ✨✨✨ click the link in our bio and go to our website to read ✨✨✨ . . . . . . . #looseparts #loosepartsplay #loosepartsexplorartion #loosepartstorage #reggio #reggioemilia #reggioemiliaapproach #reggioinspired #reggioinspiredteachers #parentingblog #ece #earlylearning #earlylearning101 #learningthroughplay #kmart #grimmswoodentoys #dominoes #openendedplay #openendedresources #intelligentmaterials #invitationtoplay #playspace #teachersfollowteachers #teachersofinstagram
First day of SUMMER 🌸💦 is apparently here. Melbourne was cold, grey and rainy sooo 🤷🏻‍♀️Anyway I’m sharing our ice experience we did the other day when it was hot ☀️ We used an old muffin tray and flowers from the garden. Such a quick and easy sustainable way to keep children engaged and cool in the hot summer months ✨ . . . . . . #ice #iceprovocation #iceexperiment #ece #earlylearning #learningthroughplay #playdiscovercreate #playmatters #sustainable #ecescience #reggioemiliaapproach #reggioinspired #eylf #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #educationalleadership #waldorf #waldorfkids #playfullearning

Subitising ✨✨✨ is a term that was coined by the theorist Piaget and defined the ability to instantaneously recognise the number of objects in a small group without the need to count them. Marley’s kindergarten teacher told me months ago she was surprised he was already doing this and I was stoked! I could only put it down to all the board games we play, the bunch of dice I got him to use and his dominoes. The other week at one of his school visits, the maths teacher spoke to all the parents, saying she would love if children knew how to do this before they came to school but it didn’t matter too much if they didn’t as they would be learning about it next year. With Marley’s love of numeracy and games I made this for him today out of some old cardboard and he’s played with it in 3 different ways all day! Apparently I’m the “best game maker in the world” 🥰 basically he just rolls the dice and puts a person on the matching amount of dots ✨ Super easy, cheap and you can do it too using bits around your home ✨✨ I have created one online as well if you don’t have time to make your own, send me a DM and I can send it to you to print and play! 💕 let me know if you give the game a go! . . . . . #subitising #subitizing #numeracy #numeracyresources #kinder #kindergarten #preschool #prep #dominoes #earlychildhoodeducation #earlychildhood101 #earlylearning101 #eylf #educationalleader #learningthroughplay #playmatters #reggio #montessori #everydayplayhacks
Let’s not compare our children to others. Be proud of their development as each child has a different learning style and pace. Every child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding ✨✨✨✨ . . . . . . #respectchildren #consciousparenting #parenting #capablechildren #supportingchildren #gentleparenting #templegrandin #naturalparenting #respectfulparenting #parentingtips #ece #earlychildhood #earlyyears
I get to listen to that all day ✨✨✨
